French Guianese murder fugitive arrested in Guyana, remanded pending extradition

Twenty-nine-year-old Dane Langhorne, a French Guianese national who was found guilty of the murder of Alicia Faye back in March 2021, was arrested at Lusignan Tarmac, East Coast Demerara (ECD), following an arrest warrant issued through the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL).
Langhorne was reportedly sentenced in absentia to 30 years of imprisonment for the murder, which occurred in French Guiana.

Police stated that following his arrest on Sunday, he was escorted to the Cove and John Police Station, where he was placed in custody.
Langhorne, whose address was given as Ann’s Grove, ECD, appeared before Chief Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court in connection with extradition proceedings under the Fugitive Offenders Act, Chapter 10:04.
During his appearance, his attorney made an application for bail, which was denied, and as such, he was remanded to prison until October 23, 2026.
It was reported that Faye was involved in a drug-smuggling network as a money courier, travelling to French Guiana with roughly €25,000 in cash to exchange for cocaine.
The 25-year-old woman from Bordeaux, France, was found dead in Cayenne, French Guiana, on March 13, 2021, after being shot in the back of the head.
Further, it was reported that on the night of her arrival, Langhorne picked her up from her hotel and allegedly attempted to rob her of the cash she was carrying, thus leading to a struggle during which she was beaten and shot dead.
He later fled the country, and an Interpol notice was issued for his arrest. His partner, Kildine Thiam, was sentenced to six years in prison for stealing the victim’s personal belongings from her hotel room.
