Diamond Upsetters FC and Friendship All Stars ended their campaign in the inaugural GFF/Pele Alumni Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League with contrasting wins on Saturday last at the Timehri Red Ground.
Upsetters, in their debut year of competition recorded their fourth win in 11 matches via a 3-1 margin over another debutant team, Samatta Point Kaneville FC. Friendship All Stars was in dismissive mood as they took strolled to their fourth win in 11 matches, a 5-0 whipping of Diamond United which has failed to record a win in 10 outings.
Upsetters dominated the early exchanges and were sent into the lead on 11 minutes when Jamal Thomas netted the first of his brace. On the half hour however, that advantage was cancelled out when Samatta Point’s Kenyon Moe found the back of the nets, the half ended 1-1.
On resumption however, it was all Upsetters and Thomas’ second goal in the 45th minute and Winston Goodridge’s 55th effort went unanswered as the Diamond side romped to victory to end the league with a win and 14 points from 11 matches including two draws.
Samatta Point/Kaneville also ended their debut season at this level but did so with their fifth loss in 11 outings three draws and a similar amount of wins.
Friendship All Stars, like the other teams have done, defeated Diamond United, they did so by a 5-0 margin, led by Marlon Dey who blasted a hat-trick in the17th, 45th and 51st minute. Shane Argyle accounted for the other two goals in the 33rd and 36th minute. Friendship ended with 12 points from their 11 matches, 4 victories and 7 loses.
As the league winds down, doubles headers would be played on Saturday and Sunday before the final match of the league next week Saturday when Timehri Panthers which is assured of the title tackles Mocha Champs.
Today will see Kuru Kururu Warriors opposing Herstelling Raiders from 09:30hrs with the feature match between Mocha Champs and Swan FC.
On Sunday Mocha Champs will match skills with Diamond United from 09:30hrs followed by a clash between Agricola Red Triangle and Kuru Kururu Warriors.
