Fruta Conquerors, Beacon, VMFA, Riddim Squad secure victories in GFA U13 League

Fruta Conquerors Football Club (FC), Beacon FC, Vurlon Mills Football Academy and Riddim Squad FC all recorded victories as the second round of the Georgetown Football Association’s (GFA) U13 Youth Ensemble League continued on Saturday last at the National Training Centre (NTC), Providence.
The day’s action, which forms part of a Guyana Football Federation (GFF) youth development initiative, produced 19 goals across five matches, including a thrilling eight-goal draw between Pele FC and Camptown FC.
Fruta Conquerors FC registered one of the most convincing wins of the round, defeating Western Tigers FC 4-1. Daniel Vancooten led the charge with a brace in the fourth and 48th minutes, while Jomari Nelson added a goal in the 11th minute. Western Tigers’ Thyatira King bundled the ball into the back of her own net in the 25th minute to gift Fruta Conquerors a goal, while Jaden Henry scored a consolation goal in the 45th minute.

Vurlon Mills Academy continued their strong run of form with a 3-0 win over Eastveldt FC

Beacon FC also enjoyed a productive outing, defeating Police Force Academy 5-1 after taking a 3-0 advantage into the interval.
Xavier Smith opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Jomel Imhoff doubled the lead two minutes later. Ayden McLintock made it 3-0 in the 19th minute, while Isco Grumble and Xavier Smithett added further goals in the second half in the 25th and 47th minutes, respectively.
The Police Force Academy’s lone response came late in the contest through Joshua Daniels in the 54th minute.
Vurlon Mills Football Academy continued their strong form with a 3-0 victory over Eastveldt FC. Simeon Devonish opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute before Noel Persaud doubled the lead in the 26th minute. Devonish then completed his brace in the 37th minute to seal the win.
Riddim Squad FC also maintained a clean sheet as they defeated Black Pearl FC 2-0. Calvin Ralph gave Riddim Squad the lead in the 11th minute before Edenan Hercules added a second in the 33rd minute to secure all three points.
The most entertaining encounter of the round saw Pele FC and Camptown FC battle to a 4-4 draw.
Pele held a 3-1 halftime advantage thanks to goals from Tofari Softleigh (16th), Julio Correia (20th) and Raymond Carter (21st), while Anthony Moses scored Camptown’s first goal in the 30th minute.
The second half produced four more goals as Tafari Softleigh extended Pele’s lead in the 56th minute. Camptown, however, mounted an impressive comeback through Jayden Sargeant in the 34th and 38th minutes and Harlan Laing in the 50th minute to earn a share of the points.
The competition is scheduled to continue this weekend at the National Training Centre, Providence, as the young players continue their quest for honours in the developmental league.
