Fruta Conquerors extends benevolence during anniversary celebrations

Fruta Conquerors FC on February 14 celebrated its 35th anniversary as a club and as such the executive committee has embarked on a number of activities during the course of the year to commemorate this wonderful milestone.

The activities commenced with a coastal clean-up on March 7 where they teamed up with the Guyana International Volunteer Effort (G.I.V.E) through Susan Isaacs where the U17 team and coaches collected in excess of thirty bags of rubbish from the Georgetown seas walls.

A donation of two boxes of disposable gloves, as well as a number of garbage bags were made and the club encouraged other youth groups and organisations to be part of the G.I.V.E group who meet every Tuesday afternoon from 17:00h to engage in the clean-up.

The club then had an international Women’s Developmental Workshop which was held on March 11 in the Conference Room of the Guyana National Racquet Center for the female members and players of the club, but invitations were extended to the Guyana Girls Guide, the Guyana Scouts Association, The Guyana Referees Council and also the Guyana Football Federation whom all sent representatives.

Presentations were given by several distinguished women of our society including Helen Browman the Chief Executive Officer of St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, Dr. Karen Butters, the acting Chief Justice Honourable Justice Roxanne George-Wiltshire, Dr. Jewel Thomas – Lecturer University of Guyana and by member of the National Sports Commission Lavern Fraser. The club expressed thanks to Carlton Joao, Executive Director of Banks D.I. H for donating the beverages and Lakeram Singh of Mike’s Pharmacy for his donation of women’s wellness products and pamphlets that were given to the participants.
