Future of bodybuilding takes centre stage

Six-packs’ and biceps will be on grand display at the National Cultural Centre this evening as local novices compete for the top spot of best male and female bodybuilder in an event organized by the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF) with the assistance of Fitness Express.
Electrifying action is expected at the Cultural Centre similar to what had obtained in last year’s competition at the Theatre Guild.

Beginning at 7pm sharp, novices will flex their muscles in a battle for supremacy in the men’s physique, women’s bikini, and bodybuilding categories. The bodybuilding contest will be staged in the following categories: bantamweight, lightweight, welterweight, light middle and heavyweight.
President of the GABBFF, Coel Marks, noted that the contestants, who are journeying from different regions of the nation, are eagerly anticipating the competition. Winners will be rewarded with trophies and other prizes, besides bragging rights. The Trophy Stall and Gandhi’s Ltd are among the other sponsors.
In last year’s competition, Nolan Smith put on a dominant performance to walk away with three titles, inclusive of the middleweight and under- 21 categories, while Roscoe Blair was crowned the men’s physique champion. In the women’s category, Natasha Chung, coming all the way from the Tej Mahal Gym in Berbice, was adjudged the contestant with the best bikini body.
