Future Stars and West Front Road seek to settle scores
The new futsal powerhouse on the block, Future Stars will have a second chance to prove that they are better than long standing veterans West Front Road- Gold is Money on Saturday night when the two sides clash in the “final settlement” of the GT Beer “Keep Your 5 Alive” at the National Gymnasium.
The “original” final was prematurely scrapped when the two sides were evenly matched in a penalty shootout after battling to a 4-4 thriller during normal and extra time.
An unruly crowd encroached the playing area and repeated requests to return to the sidelines went unheeded. This resulted in the referees and players walking out of the arena. After that unfortunate incident, the organisers and respective team captains agreed to evenly divide the prize money in a gesture of sportsmanship.
The two teams will now get the chance to finally settle the score for a $200,000 prize along with trophies. Kickoff is slated for 20:30hrs.
Based on current form the Future Stars tip the scales as they most recently won the Ballers in the Summer tournament on the West Demerara.
However West Front Road’s challenge will be carried by their most prolific scorer, Hubert Pedro and his able deputies Randolph Wagner, Carl Tudor, Phillip Rowley and Jamal Pedro.
The Future Stars will once again look to their inform plyers, Kevin Cummings, Curtez Kellman, Akeemo Anthony and Keiron Solomon as they seek to establish dominance in the local Futsal scene.
On the night of the “final settlement”, fans will be treated to exhibition matches. Bent Street comes up against Alexander Village; Broad Street battle North East and Sophia will test North Ruimveldt before the main event.
