G/town resident arrested after disposing of cocaine in sand heap

A male resident of Charlotte Street Bourda, Georgetown, was arrested and is in Police custody after a quantity of cocaine was found on his premises.

Acting on information received on Thursday, Police said a team of officers executed an intelligence-led raid in a yard along Charlotte Street, Bourda, between 12:50h and 17:30h.
Upon entry into the yard, it was observed that a male occupant dropped a whitish substance into a small heap of sand on the ground.
As a result, the ranks searched the heap of sand in the suspect’s presence and found two small Ziplock bags. Inside of the transparent bags contained a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.
Following the discovery, the suspect was cautioned, arrested, and taken to the Alberttown Police Station with the cocaine where it was weighed and amounted to 19 grams. The trafficker is expected to make his court appearance in the new week.
Only two days ago, Police in Linden cracked down on a known “drug block” located at Rainbow City, Mackenzie, Linden. Several persons of interest were searched during the drug and gun eradication exercise.
A 54-year-old mechanic of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was among those searched and one transparent plastic bag that contained a whitish/creamish substance suspected to be cocaine was found on his person. After being informed of the offence and cautioned, the suspect admitted that he sells the illegal drug.
He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, with the cocaine which was weighed in his presence and amounted to four grams. The man is in custody pending charges.
