Ganja among contraband items found at Timehri Prison

A raid conducted by law enforcement officers at the Timerhi Prison on Wednesday unearthed several contraband items, including a quantity of marijuana.
During the raid, two cellphones, six lighters, a quantity of rope in assorted lengths, a quantity of cement, a cellphone battery, four SIM cards, six improvised weapons, 30 razor blades, one cellphone charger, one cellphone adapter, a cable, and one installation tape were found.
Further searches unearthed a leather belt, two pieces of sandpaper, one broken glass bottle, three steel wires, five broken tiles, one phone case, 40 cigarettes, 10 lengths of phone wire, one nail clipper, six large nails, one ball of string, one metal fork, seven metal spoons, one pair of large scissors, four mirrors, and two needles with two lengths of thread.

Later in the day at the prison farm, a pair of red and black slippers was also discovered under a coconut tree.
Upon further investigation, 70 grams of ganja was found concealed in the soles of the slippers. A probe into the discovery has been launched.
Just a few days ago, prison officials at the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara (ECD), unearthed drugs, improvised weapons and alcohol among other contraband items.
It was reported that ranks of the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service conducted a search at the Prison between 06:00h and 08:15h.
During that time, 34 improvised weapons, five cellular phones, six lighters, four pieces of broken mirror, three cellular phone chargers, three earpieces, three SIM cards, a bottle of fermented wine, and seven bottles of oil were found.
The items were seized, as well as a quantity of cannabis which weighed 34 grams, and later taken to the Vigilance Police Station and lodged.
