Ganja farmers arrested, fields destroyed

A father and son are now in Police custody after cops found a quantity of “freshly harvested” cannabis at their house on Saturday.
The discovery was made at about 09:15h at Sugar Hill, Wauna, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini).

Reports reaching this publication revealed that Police ranks visited the duo’s residence to investigate a larceny report when they stumbled upon the marijuana.
The 55-year-old man along with his 30-year-old son, who are both farmers, were at home at the time of the discovery and were immediately detained.
The quantity of cannabis found weighed 12.74 kilograms.
Meanwhile, another farmer was also nabbed moments after he was linked to the cultivation of thousands of cannabis plants.

According to the police, based on information provided, a joint team of police and soldiers went at a location in the Sugar Hill area, North West District, and found about an acre of cannabis cultivation.
The field is said to have had about 2000 cannabis plants measuring between two and eight feet in height.
The plants altogether were estimated to weigh 364 kg. A 37-year-old farmer was detained in a camp erected on the same plot of land.
Police confirmed to this publication that the three men who have reportedly admitted to cultivating the prohibited plants are in custody pending charges.
