Ganja found during Police intelligence-led operation at Bagotville, 1 arrested

Police ranks on the West Bank of Demerara (WBD) on Saturday arrested one person during an intelligence-led operation which unearthed a quantity of marijuana.

Acting on information received, the officers went to a stand in front of an abandoned Chinese supermarket located at Bagotville junction, WBD.
While there, they conducted a search on a 36-year-old miner during which they found three transparent zip lock bags in his left-side pocket. The bags contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the La Grange Police Station along with the narcotics, which was weighed and amounted to 10.7 grams.
The miner was placed in custody pending investigation.
Meanwhile, a search was also conducted inside the abandoned Chinese supermarket, where a bulky black transparent plastic bag which contained 28 zip lock plastic bags containing more cannabis was found hanging on a wood.
The ranks further searched the back of the building and found another bulky green transparent plastic bag hanging on a nail, and when opened, it contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspected narcotics were then taken to the La Grange Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 282 grams.
