Police in Regional Division Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) are investigating the discovery of 175 grams of cannabis during an operation conducted at Mahdia Arcade.
According to police, the operation was carried out between 10:30h and 11:10h on Saturday. During a search of the area, ranks found a black plastic bag concealed under a rock. The bag contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. Further searches led to the discovery of a transparent bag containing several zip-lock bags with leaves, seeds and stems also suspected to be cannabis.
The narcotics were taken to the Mahdia Police Station, where they were weighed and amounted to 90 grams while the cannabis found in the zip-lock bags weighed 85 grams. The total quantity of suspected cannabis seized was 175 grams.
No arrests have been and investigations are ongoing.
