Ganja found stuffed in frozen chickens

A 40-year-old woman of Best Village, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was on Saturday arrested after a quantity of ganja was found stuffed in chickens at No 70 Police Checkpoint, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

Police stated that on the day in question, during a routine stop and search exercise, ranks intercepted a motor lorry bearing registration number GZZ 3698 which was driven by a 46-year-old resident of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara and transporting 12 passengers.

However, a cooler belonging to one of the passengers was searched during which 11 frozen chickens was observed with bulky parcels wrapped in plastic and foil wrap stuffed in them.
A closer inspection of the content in the parcels proved that they contained cannabis. As such, she was told of the offence, arrested and cautioned during which she reportedly told Police “Officer I buy this weed from a girl to go and sell.”
The cannabis and the suspect were escorted to the Bartica Police Station where the ganja was weighed in her presence and amounted to 565 grams. She remains in custody pending charges.
