Ganja-purchasing trip ends in shooting

A Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown resident who allegedly was on his way with an acquaintance to purchase marijuana is nursing a gunshot wound to his right shoulder at a city hospital.
Reports are that Tirace Fraser, a 23-year-old miner, was shot in Cemetery Road, Georgetown on Friday at about 21:15h.
Fraser told investigators that he had gone to the suspect’s home at Freeman Street, East La Penitence, and they had left to go to Cemetery Road to purchase marijuana.
Fraser and the suspect, identified only as “Black Boy,” were walking along Cemetery Road when the suspect asked Fraser to lend him $1000.
Fraser went into his front pants pocket and took out the money to give to the suspect, who was walking behind him.
In a bizarre twist, “Black Boy” allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Fraser. This newspaper was told that the injured man began running with the suspect giving chase.
Fraser subsequently fell to the ground, and “Black Boy” reportedly snatched his 19 penny weight gold chain and confiscated $80,000 from him.
The injured man was picked up by public-spirited persons and was rushed him to a city hospital, where he was admitted a patient in stable condition.
Checks were made for the suspect, but he was nowhere to be found. Investigators processing the scene did not find any spent shell, nor was there any footage from any CCTV camera. Nevertheless, investigations are in progress.
