Ganja trafficking case dismissed against Timehri man

A man who was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking in 2019 had the case dismissed against him by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman. Magistrate Latchman, in handing down her decision, said that the prosecution failed to prove that the man committed the offence.
Brian Howard appeared in the Providence Magistrate’s Court via Skype with his attorney, Bernard DaSilva.
The charge had stated that on January 29, 2019, at Hyde Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara, Howard had in his possession 214 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
It was reported that Police ranks went to Hyde Park, Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD), where they met Howard. A search was conducted and 214 grams of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be marijuana was found. Howard was cautioned, arrested, and taken into custody. However, as a result of insufficient evidence, the case was dismissed.
