The police on Monday launched an investigation into the discovery of a quantity of cannabis at an unoccupied building in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Based on reports received, police, acting on information, went to the location and conducted a search of the premises, where they found 11 transparent parcels containing a quantity of cannabis, along with two television sets, a quantity of Ziplock plastic bags, two small scales, four rolls of transparent plastic wrap and one pair of scissors. The cannabis and other items found at the premises were seized and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, where the ganja was subsequently weighed and amounted to 12.7 pounds. At the time of the operation, no arrests were made.
