Gavin Kennard Memorial Race-Walk heads to Mon Repos

The cream of the country’s race-walkers in all categories will match steps on Sunday February 18 when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club stages the Gavin Kennard Memorial 10k memorial Race-Walk in memory of one of the country’s most prominent sons.
The race-walk will commence at 06:30h at the Guyana School of Agriculture, Mon Repos East Coast of Demerara and proceeds to the main highway before returning to the place of origin for the finish.
There will be trophies, medals and other prizes at stake for the first top three finishers in the following categories; Male (seniors), Female (seniors), juniors, veterans and the differently abled.
Kennard was Guyana’s Minister of Agriculture between 1974 and 1980 and Guyana’s High Commissioner to Canada who passed away on February 12, 2007 in Canada at the age of 86 years old.
