…in Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Championships
The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) has shortlisted a total of 30 youth pugilists who potentially would represent Guyana at the upcoming Winfield Braithwaite Caribbean Schoolboys and Juniors Championships scheduled for August 19th-21st, 2022 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
Alongside the list of boxers from gyms across the country, a list of coaches who will take charge of the Guyanese team has been released.
The shortlisted youth boxers and the gyms they represent are as follows:
Vergenoegen Boxing Gym: Glaston Winter, Jemuel Jones, Keyon Britton, Markel Blue, Garvel Hyman, Jevon Anthony.
Pace and Power Boxing Gym: Stephon Clarence, Tofina Barker (female)
Young Achievers Boxing Gym: Ceaafa Chris, Ezekiel Bancroft, Shamaria Isaacs, Kendel DeMonic, Eon Bancroft Jnr.
Forgotten Youth Foundation: Tequan Sampson, Chance Niles, Shaquian James, Josiah McPherson, Seon Graham, Dwane Baptise, Yusdiel Gala.
Rose Hall Jammers Boxing Gym: Roopesh Balgobin, Jadon Lewis, Isaiah Nurse, Shawn Sabola, Travis Sancho, Matthew Thomas, Joshua Thambarain, Artlington Johnson, Jahuan Haniff, Akhan English.
Coaches are: Lennox Daniels, Francisco Roldon, Sebert Blake, Gregory Cort, Clifton Moore.
The GBA has said training will commence from Monday, July 25th, from 05:30hrs at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH); and from 16:00 hours at the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis Boxing Gym.
Registration for the anticipated Winfield Braithwaite tournament closed on July 19. It had been revealed that the Cayman Islands were the first country registered to participate, with the likes of Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Bahamas, St Lucia, Barbados, Jamaica and Grenada also expressing their interest in competing.
