…Bess confident in team selected for CAC 2022
Berbice is set to “come alive” this evening when the National Intermediate and Mr. Berbice Classic kicks off with a bang. Many fitness buffs are expected to be on show, and President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, Keavon Bess, is confident the 13 athletes selected for the CAC 2022 are the best representation for Guyana.
The venue for this highly anticipated event is the Berbice High School, and the action commences from 18:00 hrs.
The athletes are competing in the following categories: Mr Berbice, Mr Physique, Miss Bikini, Miss Best Legs, and Novice. All eyes will be on 2021 Novice winners Aliyah Wong, Michael Sampson and Yusuf Khan as they push to retain their respective titles.
The GBBFF has also nominated 13 (thirteen) elite athletes and 2 (two) officials to represent Guyana at the Central America and Caribbean Championships 2022, to be hosted in Barbados from July 27 to August 1, 2022. Those athletes are: Rosanna Fung, Emmerson Campbell, Darious Ramsammy, Roger Callender, Kerwin Clarke, Nicholas Albert, Rawle Greene, Julio Sinclair, Colin Chesney, Jonathan Jeffrey, Christina King, Asanti Conway and Angelica Ramos.
Sharing his view on the selected athletes, GBBFF President Keavon Bess has said, “Well, the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation believes that the team that we have put together is by far the best representation of bodybuilding and fitness in Guyana, and we would like to say that this is the crème de le crème, and we hope that they go and do extremely well.”
All the above athletes have dominated the local stage in their various categories, and Kerwin Clarke, Emmerson Campbell and Rosanna Fung are already CAC medalists. These 13 athletes represent the best pool of athletes to represent Guyana at an international competition.
Also on the agenda is that the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation sent 2 (two) athletes to represent the Golden Arrowhead at the IFBB Florida Classic in Florida, United States of America, on June 25, 2022. Yannick Grimes secured a bronze medal and Rosanna Fung captured a silver medal in their respective categories.
The GBBFF congratulates them both on their outstanding performance at this international competition, and thank them for their continued dedication to the sport.
