GBF 3×3 Championship tips off today at Cliff Anderson Sports Hall

Travis Belgrave will lead team Renegades in the GBF 3×3 Championship

The Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) will stage its National 3×3 Championship today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, with action set to tip off from 14:00h as 10 teams compete for top honours in the fast-paced format.
The tournament will see teams vying for a total prize pool, with the champions set to pocket $300,000, while second- and third-place finishers will receive $200,000 and $100,000, respectively. The event is expected to deliver a competitive showcase of 3×3 basketball, which continues to grow in popularity locally.
Organisers have implemented a structured format aimed at maximising competition. The 10 participating teams have been divided into two groups of five, with each group contesting a round-robin phase. At the conclusion of the preliminary stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the winners progressing to the final to determine the inaugural champion.
Beyond the immediate stakes, the championship is also being viewed as a key step in the development of the sport in Guyana. According to GBF Vice President Rawle Toney, the tournament forms part of the country’s preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Guyana is set to make its debut in 3×3 basketball at the Games in Glasgow, and the championship provides an important platform for players to showcase their abilities, gain competitive exposure, and position themselves for national selection.
Among the players expected to feature is Travis Belgrave, who will lead team Renegades into the competition.
