The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI) has expanded its automated banking services with the installation of a new Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at the AC Marriott Hotel Georgetown.
The new ATM, the bank said on Friday, is intended to improve convenience for hotel guests, residents, workers, business operators and visitors as commercial; residential and hospitality activities continue to expand along the East Coast corridor.
According to GBTI, the installation is part of its efforts to extend banking services beyond its traditional branch network by placing ATMs in areas with significant commercial and visitor activity.
The new facility also caters to international visitors, with all GBTI ATMs accepting both Visa and Mastercard, allowing local and international cardholders to access cash while in Guyana.
In addition to expanding access to banking services, the new ATM features a design highlighting Guyana’s natural heritage.
The ATM is wrapped with images of Guyana’s flora and fauna, including the Canje Pheasant, the country’s national bird, the Harpy Eagle and the Giant Water Lily, Guyana’s national flower.
GBTI said the design is intended to promote Guyana through its ATM network and bank cards, incorporating elements of the country’s biodiversity into everyday banking experiences.
The bank also noted that the AC Marriott Hotel location provides an opportunity to showcase Guyana’s natural heritage to international visitors, particularly those travelling for business or leisure.
The bank said it remains focused on improving convenience and accessibility while promoting Guyana’s natural landscapes and identity through its services.
