GBTI gives bursary awards to Early Savers

The Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) on Thursday handed out bursary awards to 15 of its Early Savers’ students who sat the National Grades Six Assessment on March 28 and 29.
The brief but significant ceremony was hosted at the bank’s Kingston, Georgetown office and was attended by the Assistant Chief Education Officer (Primary), Owen Pollard, among executives from the banking institution.
The recipients who received an undisclosed amount of cash were urged by the

Education Officer to continue working hard.
He said, “You will encounter many changes that you will have to adapt to… whilst many persons are there to guide your path, you have to make the final decision”.
Pollard also charged the parents of the beneficiaries to continue supporting their children as many parents tend to lose interest in their children’s education as they grow older.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of GBTI, Richard Isava encouraged the students to not stop at one achievement.
According to him, “It’s not about how many goals you score but how many obstacles you overcome”.
Among this year’s recipients was NGSA’s top performer, Naila Rahaman. Early Savers from two other banking locations also received bursary awards on Friday.
The Bank nonetheless vowed to continue its drive in helping to mould minds.
