The season in the city was scheduled to start on January 14 with the New Building Society Second Division 40 over semifinals between Transport Sports Club (TSC) and Everest Cricket Club. However, constant rainfall has led GCA to postpone the start of the season to the first week in February, again weather permitting.
The third edition of the Carib Beer T20 first division tournament, arguably the best T20 tournament in the country, is also expected to get underway when the season commences.
However, it is still unclear whether the Noble House Seafoods two day second division semifinal match between Everest and Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) will be rescheduled or GNIC will be awarded the game by mean of a walk over because Everest (the host) failed to show up.
When contacted yesterday chairman of GCA competition committee Shaun Massiah, said a decision is pending regarding the matter.
The winner of the New Building Society semifinal match between TSC and Everest will meet powerhouse Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), who hammered Georgetown Cricket Club by 10 wickets in the first semi.
Meanwhile, TSC booked their final berth after they defeated Police Sports Club in their semifinal match of the Noble House Seafoods tournament.
