Home Sports GCB commemorates 75th anniversary with Prayer Breakfast
The Guyana Cricket Board commenced its 75th anniversary celebrations on Friday with a Prayer Breakfast and gathering held at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Pavilion.
A small event, attended by a number of players, officials and GCB executives, was hosted to commemorate the club’s 75th year in existence. The ceremony also saw three brief prayers being prayed in representation of the Hindu, Muslim and Christian religions, who blessed the attendees, courtesy of the religious leaders.
Skipper of the reigning Regional Guyana Jaguars 4-Day team, Leon Johnson, delivered a few words on behalf of his peers. The West Indies player wished the GCB continued success in their days ahead, while highlighting the hard work of the Cricket Guyana Inc. (CGI) franchise, which bears numerous responsibilities and has been playing integral roles in the success of cricket in Guyana.
GCB Executive Raj Singh, during his brief remarks, detailed the history of the existence of the Board, and gave insight into the history behind the Georgetown Cricket Club.
Following the prayers and brief remarks from the speakers, the 45-minute event culminated with participants having breakfast as they officially opened their monumental anniversary celebrations.
