GCB identifies 31 prospects for Guyana Under-13 squad

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has shortlisted 31 players, following the completion of the recent Under-13 Inter-County Tournament, which saw Berbice emerge as champions.
The shortlisted players were identified based on their performances throughout the tournament and will now participate in a series of developmental and assessment sessions organised by the GCB. The programme will include structured training, skills development exercises, and practice matches, giving the young cricketers further opportunities to demonstrate their abilities, improve their skills, and prove their readiness for national selection.

Further, the board believes that consistent training, proper fitness, discipline and continued development at the club, association and county levels will enhance the players’ individual skill sets and overall preparedness. The Board noted that a collective effort among the various stakeholders will be important in developing and preparing a strong and competitive Guyana Under-13 national squad.

The GCB is therefore encouraging all relevant stakeholders to work closely with the shortlisted players by providing the necessary support, guidance and training opportunities as they continue their development towards possible national selection.
As such, the GCB offered congratulations to all 31 players on being shortlisted and encouraged them to make full use of the upcoming developmental and assessment sessions to continue improving their cricketing abilities.
They went on to congratulate Berbice on capturing the Under-13 Inter-County Championship and commended all participating teams, players, coaches, managers, match officials and other stakeholders for their contribution to the successful staging of the tournament.
The Under-13 programme remains an important component of the GCB’s player-development pathway, providing young cricketers from across the country with opportunities to compete, develop their skills and progress towards representing Guyana at the national level.
