GCB U17 Inter-County tournament: Van Lange spurs Demerara U-17 to victory over GCB Rising Stars

The multi-talented Jonathan Van Lange has scored a match-winning 60 to lead Demerara to a 52-run win against the Guyana Cricket Board Under-17 team in the Inter-County Under-17 tournament being played at La Bonne Intention, ECD.

Batting first, Demerara posted 126 all out in 40.3 overs, while the Rising Stars could reach only 74 in 32.1 overs. Demerara lost Jadon Campbell for five and Romeo Deonarin for one, while the promising Mavindra Dindyal (10) and Alvin Mohabir (04) went back cheaply.
Van Lange, however, stood tall and carried the Demerara innings with his 60 from 75 balls. His innings included three sixes and one four, while extras contributed 19 to the Demerara total.
Van Lange featured in six partnerships, but eventually watched his partners fall from the other end. He featured in a 33-run stand for the fifth wicket with Sachin Balgobin, which was the highest of the innings.
Jayden Dowlin was the pick of the Rising Stars bowlers with 4-31 from eight overs. Nityanand Mathura took 3-15 in nine overs.
In the chase of 127, Rising Stars fell for 74, with only Jeremiah Hohenkirk reaching double figures in scoring 12. Extras contributed 24 runs to the Stars’ total. Off-spinner Mohabir was the star bowler with 3-8 in seven top overs, while Dindyal took 3-12 in 8.1 overs.
