The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced the squads for its annual Under-19 Inter-County Championship, which is set to bowl off this weekend with matches scheduled across Essequibo and Demerara.
The tournament will commence today, with a double-header. Essequibo will take on Demerara at the Joe Jagmohan Ground on home soil, while Berbice will face the Select XI at the Police Sports Club Ground in Georgetown.
Action will continue on Tuesday with Demerara opposing the Select XI at Lusignan, and Berbice coming up against Essequibo at the Police Sports Club Ground. Following a rest day on Wednesday, the competition resumes on Thursday with Demerara clashing with Berbice at the Police Sports Club, while Essequibo faces the Select XI at Lusignan. The tournament is scheduled to conclude with the final on Saturday, April 18.
Four teams – Demerara, Berbice, Essequibo and the Select XI – will compete for the title in what is expected to be a competitive showcase of the country’s emerging cricket talent. The championship continues to serve as a key platform for youth development, providing players with the opportunity to gain match experience at a higher level.
Demerara will be led by Dave Mohabir with Parmeshwar Ram as his deputy, while Berbice will be Captained by Romario Ramdeholl with Adrian Hetymer serving as Vice Captain. Essequibo will be under the leadership of Nicholas Lovell, and the Select XI will be Captained by Joshua Budram with Tameshwar Deonandan as Vice Captain.
The Demerara squad reads: Dave Mohabir (Captain), Parmeshwar Ram (Vice Captain), Khush Seegobin, Emmanuel Lewis, Shamar Apple, Arvind Suknanand, Johnathon Mentore, Dhanesh Persaud, Arun Gainda, Reyaz Latif, Vijai Kalpu, Shane Prince, Patrice Fraser, Tashant Argyle, and Ravaldo Pereira.
The Berbice squad reads: Romario Ramdeholl (Captain), Adrian Hetymer (Vice Captain), Antonio DePaul, Vishal Williams, Shoaib Gaffoor, Nathaniel Ramsammy, Richard Ramdeholl, Thierry Henry, Feaz Baksh, Gilbert Griffith, Asif Marimutoo, Arif Khan, Rafeal McKenzie, Razam Koobeer, and Micah Amsterdam.
The Essequibo squad reads: Nicholas Lovell (Captain), Darwin Joseph, Elesia Ramdat, Jathniel Nurse, Darius Pearson, Romario Bholo, Eron Benjamin, Justin Dowlin, Bomesh Lall, Murali Seodat, Dennis Crossman, Ravesh Singh, Shazim Mohamed, Navendra Sankar, and Zandon Rose.
