Newly elected GCC President Don Singh

The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) celebrated excellence on and off the field on January 12, as outstanding players from the 2025 season were honoured during an awards ceremony held alongside the club’s Biennial General Meeting and election of office bearers.
The evening recognised several players for their exceptional performances throughout the 2025 campaign. Devon Lord was named Best Bowler for his consistent impact with the ball, while Navindra Persaud earned the Best Batter award after a season marked by reliable run-scoring. The highlight of the player awards went to Yeudistir Persaud, whose all-round brilliance secured him Best All-Round Performance honors and the prestigious title of GCC Cricketer of the Year.

Phillip Fernandes was also recognized on the night for his outstanding contributions to hockey and to the Georgetown Cricket Club, underlining the club’s appreciation for service that extends beyond a single sport.
In addition to celebrating athletic achievement, members gathered for the club’s Biennial General Meeting, which featured the election of a new executive. Mr Don Singh was elected President of the Georgetown Cricket Club following a closely watched vote, defeating outgoing president Jonathan Yearwood by a margin of 47 votes to 17.
The club expressed its sincere gratitude to Mr Yearwood for his dedication, time, and leadership during his tenure, and members voiced optimism about the direction the club will take under Mr Singh’s stewardship.
Continuity and experience were also reflected in the rest of the executive. Graeme Ali was re-elected Vice President, while Timothy Bhagwandin will serve as secretary. Gavin Ramsoondar and Kemraj Jaikaran will continue in their respective roles as Treasurer and Club Captain.
At the committee level, Richard Kansinally retained his position and is now joined by Leon Johnson, a former GCC Captain, and Keon Howard, strengthening the committee with a blend of experience and fresh perspectives.
With individual excellence celebrated and a new leadership team in place, the Georgetown Cricket Club looks ahead with confidence as it prepares for the challenges and opportunities of the coming seasons.
