The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) has appointed Nigel London as its new President during a special meeting held on Sunday, signalling a commitment to restore stability and enhance the organisation’s focus on cycling development.
London steps into the role following Horace Burrowes’ resignation.
Originally convened to fill various executive vacancies, the meeting expanded to include discussions about constitutional issues, financial health, and future plans for the federation. In line with the constitution, clubs nominated suitable replacements, ensuring a smooth and transparent transition.

The updated executive committee now includes a blend of seasoned officials and newcomers from affiliated clubs. London’s presidency was confirmed after Burrowes’ exit, with Mark St Claire taking on the role of General Secretary. William Howard will handle the treasurer position, while Carlos Mendonca assumes vice President for discipline and Linden Dowridge takes charge of racing as vice President for racing.
A vacancy remains for the Vice President for Finances, with an announcement on a successor anticipated soon. Additionally, Walter Grand-Stuart is the new racing secretary, Maria Leung serves as assistant treasurer, and Melanie Collins is appointed assistant secretary.
This restructuring comes in response to calls from local cycling stakeholders for better governance, financial oversight, and clearer pathways for athlete development. London is expected to unite federation members while promoting grassroots participation and enhancing competitive and international opportunities. The filling of these key roles is seen as a significant move towards stability, with focus now shifting to competition planning and athlete preparation.
