The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Women’s League Division One season came to an exciting finish on Saturday, at the National Training Centre (NTC), Providence, East Bank Demerara, with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) FC emerging as champions following a disciplined 2-0 victory over Guyana Police Force (GPF) FC in the final.

The championship match showcased tactical awareness and resilience from both sides, but it was GDF FC who made their opportunities count.
Shenessa Cornelius opened the scoring in the 11th minute, capitalising on early pressure to give her side a crucial advantage. GPF FC sought an equaliser throughout the contest, but were met with a well-organised defensive performance.
The result was sealed late in the game when Glendy Lewis struck in the 49th minute, assuring the title for GDF FC and capping off an impressive campaign.
Earlier in the day, the third-place play-off delivered a tightly-contested encounter between Santos FC and Fruta Conquerors. Santos FC edged Fruta 1-0, with Gabriel Rivera scoring the decisive goal in the 12th minute.

Despite sustained efforts from Fruta Conquerors to level the score, Santos FC maintained their composure to secure the victory and claim third place in the standings.
The finals day marked a fitting conclusion to the GFF Women’s League Division One season, highlighting the growing competitiveness and quality within women’s football in Guyana. The matches attracted supporters and stakeholders alike, reflecting continued progress in the development of the women’s game.
