GDF, Fruta Conquerors maintain grasp on top spots

The  Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Elite League continued on Sunday night at the Tucville Ground, with   leaders Guyana Defence Force  and  Fruta Conquerors continuing their  winning spree.
GDF continued their dominance when they disciplined Top XX 4-1 in a spirited all-round display. Delroy Ferdinand put them in the lead via 26th minute goal after which the league’s leading scorer, Sherwyn Caesar netted in the 50th minute. Kevin Sullivan and Leo-Orion Lovell also added their names to the score sheet in the 63rd and 75th minutes respectively while for the Linden Unit,  their lone strike came from Travis Waterton in the 70th Minute.

In the second game of the night, the Fruta Conquerors defense kept a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Buxton United in an effort to keep the pressure on league leaders.
Pernell Schultz and Antony “Awo” Abrams scored on either side of half-time to give the Conquerors a 2-0 victory. Schultz netted with a superb strike in the 43rd minute while Abrams scored in the 56th.
GDF’s latest victory means that they stay top of the table on 27 points while Conquerors are second with 22 points.  The league continues on Wednesday when Monedderlust FC clash with Buxton  United at the aforementioned venue from 18:30 hrs.
