GDF, Hornets star at Women’s Rugby 7s

Women’s rugby continued to show a resurgence over the weekend, which saw an action-packed programme featuring the ladies from the four representative clubs: Pepsi Hornets, GDF, Yamaha Caribs and Police Falcons participating in back-to-back sevens tournaments to end their 2017 season.

Saturday’s games saw GDF providing a surprise victory, playing unbeaten to upset top club Hornets 21-15 in the final to capture the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Women’s sevens title in the National Park.
Sunday’s games for the Basic Beauty sevens trophy saw Pepsi Hornets returning the favour 27-25 to losing finalist GDF. Police Falcons and Yamaha Caribs were the other representative teams participating.
