Home Sports GDF hosts Sports Summer Camp for members’ children
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Tuesday launched its inaugural Sports Summer Camp for children of serving members.
With activities being held at Base Camp Ayanganna, Thomas Lands, Georgetown, the camp would last for nine days and the children would be coached in one of the following sports: volleyball, football, cricket or basketball.
The camp’s objectives are to create fundamental learning and skills development for various sports activities in a safe and friendly environment, and to teach the value of team sports while building camaraderie and self-esteem.
Staff Officer Two General Three, Major Keith Watts, welcomed the youths and encouraged them to have fun.
The coaches are all trained serving members drawn from various units across the Force.
