GDF rank gun-butted, robbed

An 18-year-old member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) was on Saturday morning gun-butted and robbed at about 01:30h, as he was making his way from a birthday party in Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

Robbed: Gershon Sproston

Gershon Sproston of Kuru Kururu was returning home when he was attacked by a lone gunman from behind, who struck him several times to his head with a gun before carting off with two cellular phones valued $50,000.
A report was later made to the Kuru Kururu Police Outpost where investigations are said to be ongoing.
The teenager was later accompanied to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre by his mother, Phyllis Sproston, where he was treated and sent away.
Sproston’s brothers, Judah and Jahrael, related to Guyana Times that he was later taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital after his head began to swell and he was experiencing pain. Just last week, Glen Ramdass was attacked by two gunmen at his Lot 33 Kuru Kururu home. The gunmen escaped with nothing after the man managed to raise an alarm.
Earlier this month, at about 04:30h, the lifeless body of 46-year-old legal clerk Gregory Frank, also called “Wayne”, was found lying face down in a pool of blood in the sitting room of his home at Lot 686 Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
The man was suspected to have been killed during a robbery.
A post-mortem examination performed on the body of Frank determined that the man died as a result of asphyxiation due to compression injury to the neck compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
Residents of Kuru Kururu have expressed concern due to the increased number of crimes in the area; as such, a call has been made for more frequent Police patrols in the evening.
