GDF takes lead with win over Monedderlust

A 3-1 win over Monedderlust meant that the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) reclaimed the lead in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Stag Elite League II on Friday at the No. #5 ground, West Coast Berbice.
The win was orchestrated by a second half double from Sherwyn Caesar, as with the scores locked a 1-1, Caesar scored in the 84th and 86th minutes to power his team to a dramatic victory.

The army united had their defence breached in the seventh minute when Kevin Cotty scored but they managed to equalise against the home team when Aubrey Greene headed  the ball into the net in the 26th minute.
In the other match, Topp XX and Victoria Kings battled to a 1-1 draw; Kings took the lead in the  7th minute from a Kemroy Alfred strike but  Terrence Aaron cancelled the early goal in the 49th minute.
The Championship’s first round will conclude today at the Buxton Community Centre ground with an action pack triple header.
From 16:00 hrs Fruta Conquerors will battle with GDF, with the winner of that match topping  the points standings. Then Monedderlust will clash with Victoria Kings from 18:00 hrs followed by the home side taking on Linden’s Top XX at 20:00hrs
