Home Letters GECOM ought to be ready to address any constitutional requirement
Dear Editor,
The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) era has transformed global accountability approaches. Its impacts have driven changes to methods, ease and speed in which we do most things. In context, its use in improving the speed and accuracy of mechanisms employed for implementation of high national security matters such as General and Regional Elections, cannot be overemphasised.
Indeed, the guaranteed existence of our citizens in a democratic environment is pivotal.
The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) as a constitutional Body was not left behind as our country adjusted to the changing ICT framework and navigated to meet acceptable global performance specifications. Given their role, GECOM’s loud silence and inactivity are more than suspicious in the current waiting game of the fallen APNU/AFC Government.
