The pocket-size tourist guide handbook “Guyana Where and What” has now, in 2023, accomplished 15 years of continuous production annually, except for 2021 (the COVID period). 
Published by General Executive Management Services (G.E.M.S. Inc), the guidebook is the brainchild of its publisher and editor, Gem Madhoo-Nascimento.
World Cup Cricket in 2007 inspired the first publication, and since then, without fail, a new edition has graced the magazine stands of many tourism resorts, tour operator destinations, hotels, guest houses, travel agencies, airports, expos, regional and international trade fairs and mega tourism events hosted by the various Ministries.
The publication has found its way into many schools, for teachers interested in expanding their knowledge of Guyana and sharing it with their students. The guide book is a mine full of information for both Guyanese and visitors to our shores. The book is free, paid for by various client advertising.
During the COVID years, it was very difficult to keep publishing, but thanks to the continuous support of many Government agencies and some private sector organisations, only one year was missed.
The 140-page guidebook continues to provide an exceptionally useful guide for the many visitors to our shores, whether on holiday or business. The detailed map of Georgetown and Guyana in the book provides very useful information to assist the visitor to wend their way around the city and country.
We at GEMS are continuously working towards making it a complete tourism guide/ directory, listing all our hotels, lodges, restaurants, resorts, travel agencies, airports, airlines, taxi services etc., as approved by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA).
