Georgetown defeated a Combined XI as action in Demerara Inter-Association Under-15 cricket commenced yesterday with two matches.
At Everest Cricket Club Ground, Georgetown won by seven wickets over the Combined XI, who were restricted to 81 all out batting first. Chad Shivrattan (19), who was given the task of leadership top scored for the team that is made up of reserves from West Demerara, East Coast of Demerara and Georgetown and replaced East Bank Demerara team who failed to show up.
Joel Gilks was Georgetown’s best bowler with 3-21 while Travis Thomas and Negusa Walters captured two wickets apiece.

Georgetown’s response was led by opening batsman Ushandave Balgobin (42) top knock. Petite nine year old Stephon Sankar, the brother of former national youth leg spinner Steven Sankar, threatened the Georgetown batsmen as he collected two wickets bowling off-spin. He was responsible for the wickets of Balgobin and Georgetown skipper Brandon Jaikaran (06).
Shivrattan claimed the other wicket, that of Shamar Yearwood for 10.
Georgetown will face East Coast today at the Ogle Community Centre ground while the fate of the Combined XI is unknown. If East Bank Demerara fields a team today the Combined XI would be dismantled, if not, they will take on West Demerara at Everest.
