It was not a day to remember by any stretch of the imagination for Tavelle’s Academy as they were comprehensively beaten 12-1 by a rampant Georgetown Football Club (GFC) in the Turbo Energy Drink-sponsored Fruta Conquerors U19 Academy League.
Led the by Ralph Paris, who netted five goals to his name, the city side left their imprint on the league by inflicting the largest margin of victory to date.
Paris netted in the 10th, 28th, 34th, 48th and 62nd minute while Curtez Kellman netted twice in the 18th and 46th minute while Dwayne Rogueiro, Daniel Ross, Marvin Carter, Joel Humphrey and Shamar Joseph scored solo goals in the 15th, 21st, 25th, 58th and 60th minute each.
The lone goal scorer for the losing side was Jamal Waddell who netted his side’s consolation goal in the 46th minute.
In another high scoring game Buxton United crushed Eastveldt 8-0 with
Kurt Adams netting a hat-trick in the 11th, 38th and 56th minute while Cleveland Barnwell, eighth and 19th minute and Paul Kingston, 61st and 69th minute netted twice.
Dillon Wright scored the final goal in the 79th minute
The tournament continues today at the same venue where Buxton United play Santos FC from 19:00 hrs. The semi-finals and final will be held on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
