Curtez now is expected to begin preparation with his new teammates this week. “
Grenades FC are scheduled to participate in May’s Caribbean Football Union Club Championship Finals. Grenades FC were pooled in a Group against Central FC of T&T, as well as Cibao FC of Dominican Republic, with the group playing in Trinidad & Tobago.
It went on to state what Kellman said when asked what this opportunity means to him stated, “It means a lot to me. This is step two of fulfilling my dreams and this opportunity is a boost in my career to become a professional footballer.”
In addition he said; “I would have to thank my mom in Guyana and my dad in Barbados, who’ve been pushing me into working hard to achieve my dreams. I also want to thank Coach Faizal Khan and Coach Vurlon Mills who’ve been working with me for many years to become the player I am today, thank you very much.”
Kellman further stated he was thankful for this opportunity that has been set in place for him and he will keep working hard to make the best out of this opportunity in Antigua this summer.
He is yet another well-developed young footballer that has come out of the GFC set up of late and moving overseas for higher level football following Kelsey Benjamin last year, who is now a starter in the T&T Pro League for Caledonia Utd after moving from GFC.
General Manager of GFC, Faizal Khan said he is very proud of Curtez as a footballer who is a fantastic talent, but more importantly, for being a well-rounded young man.
“Since first working with him as a 14 year old until today, Curtez has never let me or any of the coaches or players down. He is just 18, but today Curtez is arguably the best developed young central midfield/defensive football player in Guyana with a strong technical, tactical, psychological and social football foundation. Curtez has always listened, worked hard to improve, helped his team mates on and off the field and is one of the 1st names on our GFC head coach’s team sheet. “
“Moreover, Curtez at every step has been respectful and puts what is best for the group ahead of him when making decisions on and off the field. I must take this opportunity to congratulate his family on a job well done on raising such a great young man. I hope Curtez will join me in thanking the tireless work at GFC, men like Coach Vurlon Mills, Coach Gordon Henry, Brazilian Coach Fabiano Agrippino and also Club medic Denzil Hernandez, who has been brilliant in injury prevention and rehabilitation for young players like Curtez. These GFC staff members have also played a big part in this talented young man’s football development. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors like Desinco Trading Ltd and the others in the background for now, for their continued investment into the development of young people through football for a better tomorrow.”
“We will miss having Curtez around the club each afternoon as a 1st team player as well as an u13’s GFC coach. However, we wish him and his new club all the best for the remainder of the season in Antigua. On behalf of all at GFC we hope and pray to see Curtez playing pro in a European football league in the not too distant future, a dream I know he has the intention of chasing.”
The release concluded with best wishes from the GFC family to Kellman.
