GFF, FIFA inspect FIFA Arena Mini-Pitch site at Haslington

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), alongside FIFA Regional Member Association Development Manager Amiel Mohammed, conducted a site inspection of the FIFA Arena Mini-Pitch at Haslington, East Coast Demerara, as construction of the facility progresses.
The inspection brought together GFF President Wayne Forde, overseer of infrastructure development Second Vice President Rawlston Adams, General Secretary Pushpargha Chattopadhyay, members of the GFF Council, the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) President Rickford Profitt, and members of the association.
Representatives of B&J Civil Works, the contractor responsible for the project’s civil works, were also present, led by Chief Executive Officer Beverley Tapp.
The Haslington facility is one of two FIFA Arena Mini-Pitches allocated to Guyana under FIFA’s global Arena initiative, with the other located at Retrieve, Linden.
The initiative seeks to expand access to safe, quality football infrastructure while creating greater opportunities for children and communities to participate in the sport. The Haslington mini-pitch is also expected to strengthen the GFF’s grassroots and youth development programmes along the East Coast Demerara corridor.

Forde said the project represents the type of practical investment needed to bring football closer to communities and young players.
“Projects like this matter because they put football where young people can actually access it. Haslington has a strong football community, and this mini-pitch will give more boys and girls a proper space to play, train and enjoy the game. That is the kind of practical investment we want to continue making across Guyana,” Forde said.
The Haslington and Retrieve facilities form part of the GFF’s broader infrastructure development strategy, through which the Federation plans to progressively establish additional mini-pitches across its regional associations.
The expansion is intended to create more accessible football spaces while providing communities throughout Guyana with greater opportunities to participate in structured football programmes.
In the long term, the GFF aims to develop a stronger network of community-based football facilities capable of supporting grassroots programmes, youth development and the identification and nurturing of talent across the country.
