The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has advertised for a new head coach of the National Senior Men’s team, a position which will fall under the Technical Department.
The position, as outlined in the Terms of Reference (ToR), states that the person will provide leadership “in all aspects of Senior National Team programme planning, training and development to improve the ranking and performance of the Men’s Senior National Team in line with the GFF’s Technical Development programme as prescribed by the Technical Director.”
According to President Wayne Forde, the scope of the position has been expanded to align with the national coaching philosophy: “The Executive Committee has made significant amendments to the ToR for the Senior Men’s head coach position. We believe that it is absolutely necessary to synergise the nation’s football development programme with the national teams’ coaching strategy.” The Federation has outlined established targets for the senior men’s team for the applicant’s consideration including increasing Guyana’s FIFA ranking to the top 100 within two years and CFU ranking to the top five within a three to four-year period respectively, Gold Cup qualification in 2019 and building the foundation for World Cup qualification in 2026.
Among the general responsibilities of the post are the following: To implement, develop, deliver the GFF National Playing and Coaching Philosophy with the Men’s Senior National Team; to prepare the foundation for the Men’s National Team to meet the initial targets of the Guyana Football Federation; to improve the performance and ranking of the Senior Men’s National Team; to effectively develop the tracking and monitoring of both local and overseas-based players in a robust manner; to manage the GFF Player Pool via the Three Tier System; to support national youth teams through development programmes, including assisting with managing talent identification processes as instructed by the Technical Director and perform additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably instructed by the GFF from time to time.
