GFF-Stag Super 16” Year-end Tournament

As the year 2018 draws closer to the end the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in its mandate has promised to further the growth and development of football within its Regional Member Associations (RMA’s) and amongst clubs falling under its purview, has planned for the execution of the 2018 Year-end tournament.
The “GFF-Stag “Super 16” Yearend Tournament” will be played on a knock-out basis involving sixteen (16) Clubs / Teams. The GFF seeks to execute the tournament during the period December 14, 2018 to January 1, 2019 utilizing the top eight (8) Elite League Clubs, two (2) Regional Member Associations Selections (BFA & E/PFA), and six (6) of the top non-Elite League clubs from across the country. Matches will be played for ninety (90) minutes comprising of two equal periods of forty five (45) minutes each while if at the end of regulation time the score is tied, an additional thirty (30) minutes will be played; two periods of fifteen (15) minutes each; if the score remains tied, kicks from the penalty mark in accordance with FIFA Regulations regarding kicks from the penalty mark, will be implemented, teams will only be allowed five substitutions. The six (6) non-Elite League Clubs will be allowed two (2) guest players each, but only from within their respective Regional Member Associations. The Clubs’ two (2) guest players will remain the same throughout the tournament. A player, upon receiving two (2) cautions (yellow cards) in the same match, will automatically be suspended for the next match in event that the team qualifies to go forward in the tournament while upon receiving a red card the player will automatically be suspended for the next match in event that the team qualifies to go forward, and he will be subject to further disciplinary action if necessary.
As the tournament will now come to an end the winning team will receive $2,000,000 plus trophy and equipment while the second placed team will receive $1,000,000 plus trophy and equipment and the third placed team will receive $500,000 and the same as the previous teams, the fourth place team will receive no cash prize but trophy and equipment.
