Home Sports GFF’s Namilco Thunderbolt Flour Power U17 league kicks off in EBFA
The “NAMILCO THUNDERBOLT FLOUR POWER U17 League” for boys, being staged by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) under sponsorship of the National Milling Company of Guyana (Namilco), will commence next Saturday, July 30, at the National Training Center at Providence, EBD.
The partnership continues in line with the Namilco objective of supporting the sustainable development of youths in Guyana, and the
competition, which is compulsory for all nine GFF regional associations, commences with the intra-association league in the East Bank Football Association (EBFA).
An exciting match featuring Swan FC opposing the Kuru Kururu Warriors FC commences at 1pm. In addition, at 3pm, the East Demerara Football Association would commence their Intra Association leg, with Buxton United FC taking on the B/V Triumph United FC right at the GFF National Training Center at Providence.
After the Intra Association phase of the tournament, the best teams in each regional association would compete in a championship round to crown the national champions.
“We are delighted to see the Regional Associations kicking off this tournament under the prevailing challenges that the recent weather pattern has posed. And (we) continue to be very grateful that NAMILCO, as a brand with a long history of service in Guyana, has come on board again to support this tournament, which is a crucial pillar in our long-term strategy to develop young men who will lead positive, productive lives, and to discover and nurture talented footballers through age-specific programmes,”
President Forde has said.
More than 1,000 boys coming from across Guyana have benefited from the GFF-NAMILCO “Flour Power” U17 Intra-Association League, and several players have progressed to Guyana’s youth and senior national teams. Those include Omari Glasgow, who recently signed a professional contract with Chicago Fire II.
