The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) on Tuesday announced the extension of the deadline for permit holders to settle outstanding rental payments.
According to the notice issued by GGMC’s Commissioner, Newell Dennison, permit holders are now required to complete payments on or before January 13. Failure to do so will result in actions being taken by the commission in accordance to Section 65 of the Mining Act of 1989, which allows for the cancellation of properties that remain in default. This notice applies to permit holders who were already asked to make contact with the Land Management Division at the GGMC’s High and Princes Street office by December 31, 2025.

This notice also urged affected permit holders to take advantage of the extension given to avoid losing their mining properties.
