GHE 4-Day preparation: Sinclair, Alimohamed light up GNS in second practice match

Junior Sinclair and Ronaldo Alimohamed had a field day with the bowlers on Wednesday at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD) when the second practice match for the Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) bowled off.

Junior Sinclair put on a show

Nial Smith’s XI won the toss and opted to bat first where they piled on a whopping 472 runs before being bowled out by Kemol Savory’s XI.

Smith’s side got off to a rocky start with most of the top order going cheaply; Sachin Singh being the only batsman to put up his hand with 35 from 5.

Junior Sinclair, however, was the star of the show on Wednesday, slamming 9 sixes and 8 fours for 129 off 139 deliveries. Ronaldo Alimohamed probably mistook the 3- Day encounter for a T20 game, striking at 205.08, as he built a frustrating 179- run partnership with Sinclair.

Alimohamed got to 121 off 59 balls, encompassing 10 fours and 11 sixes before becoming Zeynul Ramsammy’s first victim of the day. Jonathan Van Lange remained unbeaten on 16 for Smith’s XI as they got up to the mammoth score in 83.5 overs, leaving just enough time before close of play for Savory’s XI to begin their chase.

Ronaldo Alimohamed also took a liking to Savory XI’s bowling

Ramsammy had the most wickets for Savory’s XI in the team’s disastrous bowling performance, picking up 3-35 from 5.5 overs. Richie Looknauth (2-111 from 23 overs), Thaddeus Lovell (2-73 from 12 Overs) and Isai Thorne (2-42 from 6 Overs) all claimed 2 scalps each for Savory’s XI.

Smith’s XI managed to get in 4 overs with the ball before close of play, which saw their opponents getting up to 19-0. Raymon Perez (10) and Brandon Jaikarran (4) will resume Day 2 today unbeaten. Savory’s XI currently trail by 453 runs.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles are preparing for the West Indies Regional 4- Day Championships which will bowl off at venues around the Caribbean on Wednesday, January 29. Guyana will play the first three rounds at home at the Providence venue with their first opponent being the Barbados Pride.
