Gillette continues to shift gears with Team Ramchand
GMR&SC “Reaction” Dragz meet
ANSA McAL under Proctor and Gamble which controls the Gillette brand has once again thrown its full support behind drag racer Anand Ramchand ahead of this Sunday’s Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) “Reaction” International Dragz Meet at the South Dakota Circuit.
Diana Alley, who is the Procter and Gamble coordinator attached to ANSA McAL, on making the donation on Wednesday stated “ANSA McAL has always been a part of sporting events supporting under various brands such as Carib, Stag and this year we are going yet again with Gillette in support of their wining 12-second racer.” Ramchand in response to the continued benevolence of the company disclosed that, “It has been enjoyable going with them, especially with the drag race and the endurance races and we are going forward with them to win.”
At the last meet, Ramchand’s team battled their victory via superb driving by their mechanic to cop the champion car in the 12-second category.
Though the stellar performances might encourage the team to compete in the faster categories, the driver revealed that they will be competing in three categories but not in the “high class.”
The winning Toyota Levin will return to defend its title in the 12-second division while the team will also use its Toyota Celica GT-4 and Nissan Pulsar to do battle in the 11 and 10-second categories.
The team will have their tough battle on the quarter-mile as over 100 participants inclusive of the threatening Surinamese.
According to the organizers, the international drag strip and launch pad will be completed in time for the event which encourages even faster times on race day.
As it regards to the comfort and safety of spectators, it was explained that the club is in the process of erecting stands in the in-field to allow a more relaxed view of the racing.
Up to $50,000 will be at stake for the fastest bus with free runs beginning from 09:00h followed by qualifying at 10:00h and the knock-out rounds from 11:00h.
