Global job portal launched to facilitate 50,000+ jobs being created in Guyana

The budding oil industry in Guyana is expected to create enormous job opportunities, and GuyanaWorx has been created to link skilled professionals with these openings to cushion any shortages of human resources. With 18 discoveries of recoverable resource under its belt, the country is on the verge of significant growth.
GuyanaWorx will be launched this week and is a career platform built to help companies find the right talent and professionals to enable smooth operation and success in the growing economy.
“The extraordinary growth will demand thousands of skilled and professional personnel that Guyana’s current workforce is unable to supply. Private enterprise and Government leaders all know how painful it is to find qualified and skilled staff and the inefficiencies their absence brings. GuyanaWorx seeks to directly eliminate this serious gap,” the company said.
Speaking with Guyana Times on Saturday, Chief Executive Officer, Salaudeen Nausrudeen said that the platform was created for maximum exposure to both employers and job seekers through local and global partnerships.
It was outlined that the human capital needs are as critical as financial capital, and this will provide a career bridge connecting employers in Guyana with job seekers around the world, especially the experienced Guyanese diaspora population in the US, Canada, the Caribbean and further afield. With the projected need for some 50,000 positions within the next years, this creation was essential.
“I can hear the call for professionals, highly skilled and experienced people, especially from the Private Sector since they are at the frontline of Guyana’s developing economy. Government is also investing heavily in infrastructure and agriculture and this will require thousands of skilled and experienced people. It is estimated that Guyana will need to fill 50,000 or more skilled positions in the next few years. GuyanaWorx seeks to provide a comprehensive platform to connect companies in Guyana with a pool of skilled professionals from across the world and within Guyana,” Nausrudeen indicated.
In addition, persons from all sectors and in every level of their respective field will be able to access the services, especially the Guyanese population. The portal will be open for anyone, whether they live in the country or abroad.
“GuyanaWorx solves two big challenges, one is finding the right skills for your business and secondly a service that provides the widest options in an easy and affordable way. Guyanese companies spend way too much time and money to find and hire staff, and usually from a small pool. GuyanaWorx will change this,” the CEO shared.
Nausrudeen said he envisions many persons utilising this platform. Already, local companies have been reinventing their operations to capitalise on the industry.
With the discovery of oil and gas and the recommitment to traditional industries by the Private Sector and Government, the Guyana economy is projected to grow significantly, in excess of 50 per cent annually over the next decade. GuyanaWorx said its mission is to attract a huge pool of skilled and experienced professionals to supply the human capital that is required to nourish Guyana’s economic prosperity.
“I am also aware that the Government will be focusing heavily on agriculture and infrastructure, this will require thousands of skilled and experienced people like we have never seen before. GuyanaWorx will be the bridge to realise our economic growth,” the CEO added.
Less than one month ago, ExxonMobil made its 18th oil discovery offshore Guyana and the second discovery for the year, bolstering the already eight billion oil-equivalent barrels estimated to be contained in the Stabroek Block. (G12)
