GMR&SC President Mohammed satisfies with inaugural Grand Prix

Motorsports Grand Prix on Friday night at the club’s venue on Thomas and Albert roads. Racers from Canada, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago graced the occasion, as well and their participation certainly signalled the intention of great things to come in the near future. Mohammed stated that the youngsters also had a great opportunity to show their interest and the involvement was delightfully encouraging. “I was impressed with the way things were done on the night and it shows that we will see some more fantastic nights of go-karting at the GMR≻ it was totally satisfying to see the crowd support and the racers were very much entertaining,” Mohammed related to Guyana Sports Times.

Guyanese racer Kristian Jeffrey was just phenomenal manufacturing three consecutive victories in the featured Shifters Pro Cup beating his fellow competitors in clinical fashion. Ravi Singh of Trinidad and Tobago churned out a good win in the 4-Stroke Easy Cup (Light) while his daughter Bridget sparkled considerably well in her category of the 125cc with two resounding wins.

“It just showed the overseas racers just had an enjoyable time on the track which I think was well-prepared; there was no complaint about it and that was satisfying to learn; we are planning to have the Grand Prix on a monthly basis as well and I am confident racers from outside of Guyana will return,” the former Vice-president of GMR&SC declared. Mohammed spoke about Nathan Rahaman’s courage and fortitude to compete in the less-intense category, the 60cc. Rahaman is just six years old and prospered in one victory from the allotment of three. that was a manifestation of the eagerness of the sports from that tender age.

Mohammed pointed out that occasion was very encouraging and there was a general sense of gratification from his fellow executives who continued to work with a great degree of commitment. “I just want to say thanks to everyone who would have contributed in different ways to make the meet a great success; we prepared for it and I was happy to see everything went well; thanks to the fans and the sponsors too,” Mohammed commented.

The event, which was organised by GT Motorsports, received corporate support from Monster Energy Drink, Sun Burst Juices, Stag Beer, Ray’s Motor Spares, Secure Innovations and Concepts, E-Networks, Superbet, Ocean Spray Hotel, BM Soat, Prem’s Electrical Store and Honda Powersports.

Meanwhile, the only last Wednesday evening the GMR&SC hosted the second and monthly Rental Endurance Go-Kart Racing. Mohammed rated it as a success too. He further declared that the next meet for the GMR&SC will be the drag-racing event with competitors are expecting from neighbouring Suriname to be held at the South Dakota Circuit.
