GMR&SC to ignite season with “Reaction” Dragz race meet
over 100 drivers slated to participate
The first event on the calendar of events for new elected President of Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) Ramez Mohamed will to the host the highly anticipated “Reaction” Dragz meet on March 19 at the South Dakota Circuit.
Yearly drag race meets has become a custom of the motor racing fraternity and this year the eagerness the burn tyre and be the fastest on the “straight away” is already brewing among the racers.
Mohamed in speaking to this publication on Thursday stated, “We are expecting a big tournament, I meet with the drivers and they are fascinated with the new system that we have put in place and they are eager to race”
The President further disclosed that over 100 participants inclusive of the Surinamese are set to battle for supremacy in the various categories and this event is just a tip of the iceberg since they are aiming to stage an international drag race meet later this year.
Mohamed assure that the international drag strip and launch pad will be completed in time for the event.
As it regards the comfort and safety of spectators, it was explained that the club is in the process of erecting stands in the in-field to allow a more relaxed view of the racing.
The GMR&SC head is urging persons to race in a secure and controlled environment and urged to those who may want have a try at the event to attend since they will have all the necessary emergency services present.
Up to $50,000 will be a stake for the fastest bus with free runs beginning from 09:00 hrs followed by qualifying at 10:00 hrs and the knock-out rounds from 11:00 hrs.
