GNIC slightly ahead after day 1

Aseesaw opening day of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Noble House Seafoods second division final ended with Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) holding the upper-hand against Transport Sports Club (TSC) at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.

After being inserted, GNIC fell for 167 in 67 overs, with Stefan Campbell leading the way with 62 while receiving support from Mark Nicholson 33 and Premchand Sookdeo 28. Rafael Singh was outstanding with the ball for TSC, claiming 6-29.

In their turn at the crease, TSC reached 68-6 from 23 overs at the close. At the crease is Shawn Massiah and Azeem Azeez on four runs apiece.

Charwayne McPherson made 16 while Ryan Hemraj and Sunil Singh scored 11 each.

GNIC’s bowling has so far been spearheaded by Deswin Butts 2-20 and Gajanan Sukanandan 2-9.
